What is Transformational Leadership?
Transformational Leadership is a theory of leadership where a leader works to build teams that identify needed change and innovation, creating a vision to guide the change through inspiration, and executing the change in tandem with committed members of a group who have bought into and internalized the vision.
Transformational Leadership enhances motivation, morale, and job performance through a variety of mechanisms including connecting a sense of identity and self to the project, organization and vision, and building a collective identity through the creation of organizational storytelling, mythology, cultural values, and prime objectives.
There have been a lot of discussions about Transformational Leadership at various conferences around the country this year. The National Training Center for Transformational Rehabilitation Leadership (NTCTRL) is excited to hear these conversations are taking place as this approach to leadership becomes more predominant in the field of vocational rehabilitation.
The NTCTRL is focused on transforming the field of vocational rehabilitation into a dynamic, innovative, and consumer-responsive service delivery system that will inform the next 100 years of the profession.
