- Students who have already taken the Universities of Wisconsin Placement Tests do not need to take them again.
- Register for Placement Testing at the UW-System Center for Placement Testing
- The email referenced in Step 2 identifies whether you need to complete a placement exam(s).
- If you have transfer credits in any of the following English courses, you do not need to take the English Placement Tests: ENGL 090; 101; 111.
- If you have college credit in math, your advisor will advise you on which math class to take.
- If you plan to take Spanish while attending UW-Stout and have not taken Spanish at your previous institution, you will need to take the Spanish World Languages Placement Test.
If you have additional questions about placement or testing contact our Testing Center via email at advisement.testing@uwstout.edu
- Once your Transfer Credit Report (TCR) has been completed, you will receive an email from your major’s program director or an Advisement Center advisor that will start the advising process.
- You will receive an email in your UW-Stout email account with a link to access the Canvas course, Transfer Registration & Orientation. The Transfer Registration & Orientation Canvas course is required for all new transfer students. Completing the advising and orientation course will provide you with resources and tutorials to enroll and successfully transfer to UW-Stout.
Watch your UW-Stout email for details about optional transfer orientation events designed to support your transition to campus life. These events provide transfer students with valuable resources, assistance with course registration, and opportunities to connect with staff and peers.
For Fall Semester Start:
Transfer orientation events are typically planned for May and August. These sessions may include opportunities to pick up your UW-Stout laptop (included in tuition) and textbooks, as well as dedicated support for any questions about your transfer credits or registration process.
For Spring Semester Start:
Transfer orientation events are typically planned for late January. These sessions are structured to ensure you have the information and tools needed to succeed at UW-Stout, including help with finalizing your class schedule and access to campus resources.
If you are unable to attend an orientation event, don’t worry! Instructions for obtaining your laptop and other materials will be sent to your UW-Stout email and are also available in the Transfer Registration and Orientation Canvas course.
