UW-Stout's Recreation Complex offers students, staff, community members, businesses, and civic groups state-of-the-art recreation, both indoors and out. Our facilities provide activities for all skill levels from beginners to advanced.
Schedule a day of team building on the Challenge Course. Specifically tailored programs can be made for every type of group from student organizations to summer camps.
- Utilizes high and low elements for team building or leadership development activities
- Trained leaders work with each group
- Designed to strengthen your team and inspire confidence in the individual
- Groups can range from 7 to 60 participants.

Completed in 2001, Don and Nona Williams Stadium is UW-Stout’s main stadium. The multi-use artificial turf field can be used for a variety of intramurals, clubs, competitions, and more. Students and the public are welcome to request use of the space for many event types.

Rec Complex facilities include 5 fields for a variety of events and sports such as baseball, softball, track, rugby, lacrosse, and soccer.

Fields are available for intramural and club sport practices as well as any number of events. Reservations of fields are subject to changes due to weather.
- The Nelson Soccer and Lacrosse Field, Outdoor Track, Alumni Field, and the Multi-Purpose Field are fully lighted
- All fields are located on the south east end of the Rec Complex

Seasonal Availability.
The Pat Kell Golf Room is located on the lower level of the Rec Complex in room 25 and 26. This indoor golf room includes a putting green, 3 driving stalls, and a golf simulator. To use this room, you must make a reservation. Click here to make a reservation.

The Health and Fitness Center (occupancy 120) is located in the lower level of the Rec Complex.
Fitness center memberships are available to UW-Stout employees, retirees, and family members (18+), along with UW Sister School members.
Access to the men's and women’s locker rooms is available on the lower level of the Rec Complex.
The Johnson Fieldhouse is located on the main floor of the Rec Complex and can host approximately 3,200 people (depending on event setup/type).
The fieldhouse is home to men’s and women’s basketball, gymnastics, volleyball, and several recreational activities. The fieldhouse is equipped with:
- Two scoreboards
- One NCAA basketball court
- Two practice basketball courts
- Four practice volleyball courts
In order to maintain the quality of the flooring, no street shoes are allowed in the fieldhouse. Access to the men's and women’s locker rooms is available on the lower level of the Rec Complex.

The Multi-Purpose Room, located in the lower level of the Rec Complex, can accommodate approximately 3,200 people (depending on setup and event type).
The facility boasts:
- 200-meter NCAA compliant indoor track
- Six indoor tennis courts
- Four basketball courts
- Six volleyball courts
- Scoreboards
- Perimeter curtains to separate the track from inner courts
- Access to the men's and women’s locker rooms is available on the lower level of the Rec Complex
The space is used as an indoor practice facility for many sports when inclement weather occurs. The facility is used extensively for summer volleyball, basketball, and track camps. Many external and internal clubs, including UW-Stout gymnastics team, uses the Multi-Purpose room for summer camps and other large events.

North Point Fitness (occupancy 75) is open 24/7 and is located on the north end of campus.
Two racquetball courts (rooms 23 and 24) are located on the lower level of the rec complex. These courts can be used for Racquetball, Dance, and Walleyball. To use these rooms, you must check-in and reserve a room at the Urec office or call ahead to reserve a room at 715-232-1392. Racquets and balls are also available to rent at the Urec office. Clean shoes are required.

Have a pick-up game of tennis with your friends or schedule a floor tournament for your residence hall. The Rec Complex’s tennis courts are shared with the Blue Devil's varsity tennis team and the general public.
- Six tennis courts are located next to the outdoor adventure course on the south of campus
- Courts are open to the public
- Lit courts allow for late night playing

The West Gym (occupancy 125) is a multi-purpose room equipped with
- Basketball court (non-regulation)
- Access to the men's and women’s locker rooms is available on the lower level of the Rec Complex
A wall of the room is lined in mirrors, making it ideal for dance practices, aerobic exercise sessions, or some open recreation activities. To maintain the wooden floors, no street shoes are allowed in the rooms.
