Investing in your future.

Fostering Success provides guidance and resources for youth who have been in foster care, homeless or orphaned and who have an interest in pursuing higher education. We also provide information for other campuses interested in developing their own version of Fostering Success.

Starting August 3rd, the Fostering Success office will be staffed during standard business hours. While walk-ins are welcome, visitors are encouraged to call ahead to determine if business can be completed remotely or to schedule a meeting to maintain low density in the office and promote social distancing.  Scheduling can be done by contacting Angie Ruppe at or Gail Mentzel at

Special note for visitors and applicants: Before visiting campus we ask that you review the expectations in the UW-Stout visitors guide.

The FS Closet is closed.  If you are a current participant in the program and are in need of supplies, please contact one of the FS staff members.

Connecting Youth to Campus

We coordinate overnight experiences for youth (ages 13 - 18) to learn about what college is about, identify personal strengths, and what opportunities exist for youth interested in higher education. If you want to visit Stout, we'll help you set a up a tour!

Students Attending UW-Stout

We educate students coming to Stout about available grants and scholarships as well as provide supplemental advising about courses and resources. There are numerous leadership and involvement opportunities available on and off campus. We'll connect you with other students, organizations, or opportunities so you make the most of your college experience.
