UW-Stout student athletes will host the second Kids Night Out of the academic year from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, March 2, at the Sports and Fitness Center, 220 13th Ave. E.
Children in kindergarten through eighth grade from around the region are invited. More than 50 Blue Devil student athletes will be on hand to lead and interact with children in games and activities, including dodge ball, basketball, flag football, kick ball, whiffle ball, volleyball, soccer, sprinting around the track, jumping in the long jump pit and more.
Past events have included swimming, but the university pool is closed for maintenance.
Kids Night Out will have organized activities taking place every 30 minutes to keep children engaged.
The cost is $10 per child for the first two children in the family and $5 per child after that. Parents need not be present but can stay if they choose. No child will be allowed to leave until picked up by a parent or guardian. Snacks and drinks will be available through vending machines in the building. A first responder will be present.
A registration form is available online. Preregister for quick-drop off, but walk-ins are welcome.
Parents whose children attend will receive coupons, good for March 2 only, at local establishments. The coupons will be available when children are dropped off.
The event is sponsored by the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. For more information, contact Brett Schreiner, UW-Stout Athletics, at 715-232-2173 or schreinerb@uwstout.edu.
UW-Stout student athletes do thousands of hours of community service each academic year in Menomonie, Dunn County and west-central Wisconsin.
